Freezing Rain Warning in Effect for North Coast - inland sections
11:10 AM PST Tuesday 12 January 2016
Freezing rain warning in effect for:
- North Coast - inland sections
Ice build-up due to freezing rain is expected or occurring.
A frontal system approaching the Coast is bringing patchy freezing precipitation to parts of the North coast - inland sections this morning. Near Kitimat and Stewart freezing precipitation is expected to end as temperatures moderate slightly. At Terrace temperatures are forecast to stay below freezing through this evening. Freezing rain is expected to become more widespread later this morning as another system advances from the south.
Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots will become icy, slippery and hazardous. Consider postponing non-essential travel until conditions improve. Ice build-up may cause tree branches to break.
Freezing rain warnings are issued when rain falling in sub-zero temperatures creates ice build-up and icy surfaces.
