Journey Home members of Ts’amiks make their way back to the homelands to reconnect with the land

Xmaay’ 2024, Nisga’a Lisims Government (NLG), and the Nisga’a Village of Laxgalts’ap were pleased to welcome home members of Ts’amiks for the 2024 Journey Home program. The program created by the Ts’amiks administra- tion in 2011, has provided for a ceremonial home coming for 35 members to find cultural balance, learn about Nis- ga’a history, traditional food ceremony, and reconnecting with their roots.

NLG Executive officers were appreciative for the invitation to witness the engagement of the Journey Home group as they made their way to their ancestral roots and to share in a warm welcome to the membership. “It is great to have Ts’amiks members of all ages come home, there’s good opportunity here for all our administrations to coor- dinate perfect timing of the many cultural activities and community programming that accommodates our guests, great work to the organizers and welcome to the homelands.” says Madam President Eva Clayton.

On day 1, Journey Home participants visited the Nisga’a Village of Laxgalts’ap, Hli Goothl Wilp-Adokshi Nisga’a (The Heart of Nisga’a House Crests).
