Government
Long ago, our ancestors built a culture and economy that respects and protects the natural world. Today, under the Nisg̱a’a Final Agreement (the Treaty), the Nisg̱a’a Nation owns 2,000 square kilometres of Nisg̱a’a Lands and the natural resources on those lands and throughout the entire 26,000 sq km (approximate) Nass Area.
The Nisg̱a’a Nation is blessed with natural resources: lush temperate rainforests, one of British Columbia’s great salmon rivers, and a teeming esturary.
Nisg̱a’a Lisims Government is determined to govern by the principles of the Ayuuḵ, the time honoured Nisg̱a’a code. All decisions are considered according to Sayt-Ḵ’ilim-Goot, the Nisg̱a’a Common Bowl philosophy. We believe we are bound together as one people in all that we do.
Nisg̱a’a Nation—One heart, one path, one nation.
