SALARY RANGE: Commensurate with Qualifications and Experience
SUPERVISOR: Accounting Manager
HOURS: 37.5 hours per week 
TERM: Full-time Permanent
LOCATION: New Aiyansh BC

JOB SUMMARY:

Within fiscal authority guidelines, in accordance with Canadian Public Accounting Standards, and as directed by the Manager, this position will assist to maintain professional standards and compliance with legislative guidelines provincial, federally and within the Nisga’a Lisims Government (NLG) Financial Administrations Act. The primary responsibilities are to process invoices and generate payments in adherence to NLG regulations and procedures for NLG and its Government organizations and to support other team members with data entry and administration. The Accounting Clerk will also ensure strict maintenance to internal control for all personnel including the purchase order system.

DUTIES:
• Process Accounts Payable invoices and cheques for NLG and its other Government organizations;
• Maintain Accounts Payable records;
• Ensure vendor accounts are reconciled to statements; call/investigate/resolves discrepancies;
• Liaise with cost centre managers to ensure timely and accurate authorization of invoices;
• Process travel accounts payable invoices and EFT payments;
• Monthly reporting as required;
• Maintain the filing system for accounts payable;
• Assist with filing and other administrative duties within the department;
• Assist with year-end audit preparations as required;
• Other duties as assigned;
• Support departmental mission statement and vision statement of NLG;

EDUCATION or OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATION / EXPERIENCE:
• Minimum high school diploma required;
• Accounting/Business certificate/diploma/degree or working towards completion, required;
• Minimum of 2 years of working in an accounting environment is preferred;
• Equivalent combinations of education and practical experience will be considered;
• Proficiency with Sage 300 or similar accounting program, Excel and Word, required;
• Ability to maintain functional working relationships with co-workers, team members and others across government, required;
• Organized, self-motivated and ability to be flexible with schedule;
• Ability to cooperate and contribute to team goals;
• Possess a positive attitude and a strong work ethic;
OTHER:
• 3 recent work related references will be required;
• Valid drivers’ license preferred.
