POSITION: Policy Analyst  | SALARY RANGE: Commensurate with Qualifications and Experience

SUPERVISOR: In House Legal Counsel / Law Clerk

HOURS: 35 hours per week | TERM: Permanent Full-Time |  LOCATION: New Aiyansh, B.C.

JOB SUMMARY:
The successful candidate will be responsible for researching, analyzing, and developing policies that address current issues and trends. The Policy Analyst will provide insights and recommendations to inform decision-making processes and contribute to the development of effective policies that align with organizational goals and objectives.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Research and Analysis: Conduct thorough research on policy issues, including collecting and analyzing data from various sources.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of existing policies and programs.
  • Identify emerging trends, challenges, and opportunities related to policy areas of interest.
  • Policy Development: Develop policy proposals and recommendations based on research findings and analysis.
  • Prepare detailed reports, briefing papers, and presentations for senior management and stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to gather input and feedback on policy proposals.
  • Collaborate with the Legislative Committee to draft and /or amend policy and legislation.
  • Engagement: Engage with government officials, industry experts, community organizations, and other stakeholders to gather information and build support for policy initiatives.
  • Represent the organization at meetings, conferences, and public forums.
  • Communication: Communicate complex policy issues and recommendations clearly and concisely to diverse audiences.
  • Draft policy briefs, white papers, and other communication materials to disseminate findings and recommendations.
  • Project Management: Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality work.
  • Coordinate with team members and other departments to ensure alignment and collaboration on policy initiatives.
  • Other duties as required.

 

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Policy, Political Science, Economics, or a related field. A Master’s degree is preferred.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in policy analysis, research, or a related field.
  • Experience working with government agencies, non-profit organizations, or think tanks is a plus.

SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Strong analytical and research skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and statistical software.
  • Ability to think critically and strategically.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of relevant policy areas and regulatory frameworks.

 

The successful candidate will be required to complete/provide:

  • 3 recent work related references;
  • Valid Driver’s license
  • Criminal Records Check will be required of the successful candidate.
