Nisg̱a’a Valley Health Authority (NVHA)

Responsible for creating and maintaining facilities and promoting medical and public healthcare programs, NVHA operates a diagnostic centre in Gitlaxt’aamiks (New Aiyansh) and satellite clinics in the other Nisg̱a’a Villages, providing physician services, home care, cultural community health representatives, and the administration of non-insured health benefits.

Nisg̱a’a citizens report a high level of satisfaction with health services on Nisg̱a’a Lands and consider NVHA one of Canada’s most progressive, efficient, and effective First Nations healthcare organizations. NVHA receives funding from the Nisg̱a’a Lisims Government under the Fiscal Financing Agreement, and also receives various funding from Canada and British Columbia.

NVHA Services

Gitlaxt’aamiks (New Aiyansh) is the hub for health services for the Nisg̱a’a Nation. The centre has a full-time doctor and nurse on-staff, offers scheduled dental services, mental health services, and scheduled optometric services. Other program & services offered through Nisg̱a’a Valley Health Board include the community health rep. program, Drug & Alcohol preventative services, the Brighter Futures program, and Home Care services.
