Opportunities for employment can vary in status and may be continuing or temporary positions that are either full time or part time in nature. Depending on operational requirements, employment may be seasonal, project based, or casual / on-call.

As we develop our economic base, new employment opportunities will present themselves to Nisg̱a’a citizens. We will be diligent in posting employment notices under the “Employment” heading on our home page.

Benefits are a key component of the total compensation package for Nisg̱a’a Lisims Government employees. NLG has contracted with an insurance provider to provide a package of employee benefits for which continuing full time employees are eligible after satisfactorily completing their probationary period. This same benefits package is available after three months to temporary full time employees with an anticipated term of six months of greater. In addition, NLG provides a benefits package for which part time employees may be eligible.

Benefits include: Extended Health and Dental; Short and Long Term Disability; Group Life Insurance; Group Pension Plan; and Employee & Family Assistance Program (EFAP). The EFAP provides confidential counselling services to assist employees with a variety of life’s challenges, in addition to providing Life Coaching or Financial, Legal, Nutritional and Career consultation services.

Nisg̱a’a Lisims Government has developed a comprehensive Employee Policy Manual that offers guidelines and procedures that have been adopted to ensure the fair and equitable treatment of all employees. In addition, a Staff Code of Conduct provides guidance for staff members on how to conduct themselves in a professional and businesslike manner.
